This was found as a loose page in the “Kin” book assembled by Virginia Dykstal and Robert Callard. The original paper is mounted on some stiff paper backing, similar to construction paper.
The text, as near as I can make out, is as follows:
Family History of Ann Maywood=Adams
English Scotch, born in England reared in Ireland. Grandmother Jane Pinkborn (English). Great-grandmother Louisa Armour. Grandfather (Scotch) Charles Maywood. Great-grandfather James Maywood.
Great great great great grandfather Pinkborn crossed the Boyne with William the Conqueror.
Written for Charlotte Adams-Oakes, daughter of Ann Maywood and Charles Frederick Adams.
Property of Florence Oakes-Price, daughter of George E. Oakes and Charlotte Adams.
The reverse contains the note
Please return to me – Florence
I have done some minor editing such as adding commas and parentheses where these seemed necessary.
William the Conqueror? I don’t think so. There are not nearly enough “greats” in the 3rd paragraph and the Boyne is in the wrong country for William the Conqueror. This is not William the Conqueror but William of Orange. The Boyne is in Ireland, and the action referred to was Williamite war with Ireland that secured it under Protestant English control in 1690.
